There are so many things that clamor for our attention and devotion like our jobs, our kids, our spouses, our hobbies-the demands and distractions of life. And we have to be careful not to let them become more important or more of a priority than our relationship with God. The first of the Ten Commandments states we will have no other gods before Him ,”You must not make for yourself an idol of any kind, or an image of anything in the heavens or on the earth or in the sea. You must not bow down to them or worship  them, for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God who will not tolerate your affection for any other gods.” Yet how many of the things that occupy our time, money, thoughts and attention have taken the place where God is supposed to be? Anything can become a god to us, anything we worship or put an excessive amount of time into. Even your feelings can become a god if you allow them to control you. We need to ask ourselves, “Am I bowing down to God and His Word or to my feelings?” Another challenge we have to confront is living in a world full of humanism and people not wanting God and His Truth to interfere with their lives and routines. It seems we have an epidemic of selfishness in our world today, and this creates all kinds of unhealthy situations.

Erict Thomas is a motivational speaker whom I wake up to in the morning and listen to everyday. Motivation is that inner feeling that drives one to achieve a result. It is an internal energy that moves one to actively pursue a goal, a desire, an end. Many words can be used to define motivation like  passion, drive, fire, enthusiasm, heart, tick, itch, motor, engine and so forth. These words all can be used to describe an intense emotion we call motivation. Millions of dollars are spent each year to hire motivational speakers. They are in demand, and rarely is there a day that goes by when someone is not speaking to a business, an organization, a civic group, or some other massive audience of people on the subject of motivation. Many feel this is the key to success in whatever you are in pursuit. Motivation is important, but before one can become motivated one must have a target, a goal, a result, or a desired end. It is the substance of this result that will determine, in many cases, the level of motivation. What is it that motivates you today? What compels you to get out of bed in the morning? What motivates you to go to work or go to school or even to interact with those you love? What motivated you to come to church if, indeed, you are a church member? What motivates you to remain apart of the things that matter most in your little world? We are all motivated by something and maybe it is time to start thinking about it because our level of motivation will greatly determine our level of success.

A hoax people are now saying, could it be true?   Review a string of local terrible tragedies. Study and take note of the reactions, sentiments, and behavior it stirs up in those directly affected as well as those receiving current and flash news updates. People are easily manipulated and controlled by their fears in connection with hyped up concerns over matters of serious consequences and their televised exploitations. In lieu of such tragedies repeatedly “occurring” in the most powerful nation on earth, you tell me. It seems to be an effective way to get specific attention of the masses, and you ask them to throw up their monies amidst their fears. So now our national “safety” depends on how much money we are willing to give to our governing caretakers. It’s just a good thing to know that they can guarantee our safety. But are they manipulating us to think that they’re protecting us by first scaring us so we can lean on them for protection.

Personally, I am pro-choice. As a young woman in today’s society I fully believe in women’s rights. It honestly offends me when people try to tell me what to do with my body. Recently, with election season coming to an end, abortion was a hot topic in some states. In Missouri, Republican Senate candidate Todd Akin said that women have many biological ways to avoid pregnancy after a ‘legitimate rape.’ Basically, he was claiming that a woman’s body has defense mechanisms to shut down the creation of life after a rape, and a woman will only get pregnant if she wants to.  It is utterly appalling to me that Akin would make such claims. I’m disgusted as well as offended that this man believes that women who are raped become pregnant because they want to do so. As we all know, abortion is an extremely controversial issue in today’s society. Many people say abortion should be illegal as it is taking away the life of an innocent child and because all life is sacred. While on the other hand, many people think that abortion should be legal as it is a woman’s right to do what she wants with her body and she deserves to have the choice of what to do. In todays society people think abortion is wrong but at the same time they frown upon teenage mothers. So what is right?

We are a generation who is always in a rush so we have no time to communicate to know what is going on around us. in this busy world that we leave in today, nothing can be done if we are not in touch with reality. The one who is informed has the power and is able to properly survive in society. This is how we explain the man’s hunger for information and news. Fortunately our modern era offers us the best and fastest means to be informed which is the mass media. Although the mass medias job to inform us about the reality surrounding us was perverted by mean interests and unfortunately it became the most efficient means of mass manipulation! Manipulating society into believing what is right or wrong, what to spend your money on, who to worship, and all the false stories. What is to be done? Are we just puppets in the hands of those who control this genuine machine? How can we prevent this from affecting us?

What makes a trend? Something tasteful, beautiful, eye catching, different, weird, or all of these things? Why do people keep up with these fashion trends? People are afraid to be individuals because of a sense of security. People are afraid that they may not fit in or afraid of what others may think and say. The Conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organized habits and opnions of the masses is an important element in democratic society. Those who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country. We are governed, our minds molded, our tastes formed, and our ideas suggested.The media has a creative way of manipulating societys mind making them think that they are thinking for themselves but in reality they are not.

Shanice i began to be growing up in Pasadena California. Along with three borthers and three sisters to began but only to continue on alone. To continue ALONE to Alabama and attend the prestigious TUSKEGEE UNIVERSITY. With a passion of wanting to change lives, make a difference, and help those in need lead me to a major in Social Work. Which lead me to meet new and wonderful people from all over, two of which who became my very close sisters! So who am I? I am a young lady on a mission to become succesful. I am a young lady who loves to give people happiness despite what the circumstances might look like. I like honest, real, sincere, and trustworthy people.
